‘Cheesy’ Raw Vegan Kale Chips

So I’ve been on a bit of a kale rampage lately. I purchased a huge bag at the supermarket and have proceeded to stuff kale into everything I’m preparing! So it only seemed sensible to dust off my old friend the dehydrator and make some healthy snack food! Kale chips!

It took me a while to find the best formula for making devilishly moorish kale chips and since I discovered the formula a few years ago I haven’t looked back! I discovered the recipe for this ‘Go Nuts Cheese Sauce‘ on the blog Little Green Dot which is an awesome blog by Militza Maury where you can find all kinds of wholesome food, lifestyle, home and beauty greatness, so make sure you check it out! This recipe has been my all-time favourite raw vegan cheesy sauce recipe ever since I found it and Militza of Little Green Dot has been kind enough to allow me to share it! It is SO moorish and yummy that I have been caught eating it straight out of the blender on occasion…no double dipping though of course! When slathered over fresh kale and dehydrated, the result is to die for!

‘Cheesy’ Raw Vegan Kale Chips

Serving Size: 6 snack-size servings


  • 450g Kale
  • 1 Cup Cashew Nuts
  • 1 Cup Red Pepper (Bell Pepper)
  • 1/3 Cup Nutritional Yeast
  • 4 tbsp Olive Oil
  • Squeeze of Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 2tsp Salt
  • 2tsp Onion Powder
  • 1tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1tsp Cayenne Pepper


  1. Place all the ingredients except the kale into a blender and blend until smooth and creamy in consistency
  2. Wash and dry the kale and remove any large stems
  3. Coat the kale in the sauce and make sure it is all covered well
  4. Place into a dehydrator on 45° for about one day or until desirably crisp
