Turmeric is one of those amazing foods that is only recently starting to get the recognition it deserves as the superhero spice that it is! Turmeric can be a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and has been linked to improved brain function and in aiding depression. Although a lot of people are familiar with turmeric as a curry spice, it also marries surprisingly well with sweet orange and yellow fruits like mango and orange! I love slipping turmeric into smoothies and smoothie bowls and the spicy little kick is actually a great pick-me-up for a slow starting morning or a mid-afternoon slump.

This smoothie bowl recipe also features maca which is another great super ingredient for smoothies. It is high in vitamins B, C and E and has been linked to increased energy and better moods! woop!

Healing Golden Smoothie Bowl

Ingredients

  • 3 Medium Bananas
  • 1/3 Cup Chopped Mango
  • 1/2Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1Tsp Maca Powder
  • Handful of Ice
  • For the toppings
  • Blueberries
  • Mango chunks
  • Passionfruit
  • Coconut Flakes

Method

  1. Place all ingredients except the ice into a high speed blender and blend until smooth
  2. Add the ice and blend until cold
  3. Decorate with the toppings and even add extra toppings of your choice like granola, raspberries or hemp seeds
